HA NOI — Dozens of works of art and literature by winners of the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize in 2016 are on display in downtown Ha Noi to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day.
The event, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, features work by 13 artists, photographers and writers.
The State and Ho Chi Minh prizes are the highest honours conferred by the Party and State to outstanding works of art and literature with profound meaning and high artistic value that serve the revolutionary cause and contribute to the development of literature and arts.
In 2016, 18 authors were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and 95 authors were awarded the State Prize in the fields of literature and art.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and the ministry’s leaders attended the opening ceremony at the Fine Arts Museum yesterday.
"Photos have been reprinted from files contributed by authors and the late authors’ families," said Tran Thi Thu Dong, deputy director of the ministry’s Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition Department. "While only small sculptures are displayed, large photographs are shown of the large prize-winning sculptures."
"We regret that we haven’t been able to collect original paintings of some of the painters showcased here yet," she said. "We have here only five original award-winning paintings and some paintings by the artists preserved at the Fine Arts Museum."
"We also display here some recent works by some prize-winning artists to feature a more general view of the artists’ styles," she said.
Nine recent paintings and sculptures by Ta Quang Bao, Phan Thi Gia Huong, Co Tan Long Chau, Buu Chi and Do Son are exhibited to serve the purpose.

Three photo collections by Vietnam News Agency war correspondents Luong Nghia Dung, Lam Tan Tai and Hua Kiem are also on display.
Journalist Luong Nghia Dung (1934-72) won the Ho Chi Minh Prize in photography for his collection titled Nhung Khoanh Khac De Lai (Remaining Moments), including five photos of the Resistance War Against America.
Lam Tan Tai (1935-2001) and Hua Kiem (born in 1938) also won the State Prize for their photo collection on the same war.
The exhibition, at the Viet Nam National Museum of Fine Arts, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, will remain open free to the public until September 8. — VNS
