HA NOI — Twenty-six dancers from the Moscow State Dance Theatre will mesmerise audience members by performing Gzhel at the Ha Noi Opera House tonight.

Gzhel is an extraordinary dance show that takes the viewers on an exciting musical journey to explore various regions of Russia and enjoy their vivid folk traditions and colourful Russian arts and crafts.

Through incredible choreography, the audience will be shown examples of Russian arts and crafts as well as the rich and diverse culture of Russian peoples.

The spectacular Gzhel offers the best of Russian traditions and scenes of folk life. This dance performance alone embodies all the major Russian arts and crafts, such as Gzhel Ceramics, Palekh Miniature Painting, Khokhloma Tableware and others.

Colourful folk costumes emphasise the authenticity of Russian fashion and traditional Russian dress. The performance of the Gzhel dance celebrates bright colours and vivid emotions.

The theatre was created in 1988 and coincided with the 650th anniversary of one of the most famous Russian traditional crafts — Gzhel ceramics. It is after this celebrated form of art that the dance troupe takes its name. This relatively young dance theatre quickly won the hearts of its audience and secured its place in the vast array of Russia’s dance troupes.

In its performances, Gzhel is developing and reinterpreting the traditions of Russian folk dance as well as the choreographic forms of other peoples. The theatre’s cast consists of the graduates of Russia’s best choreography schools. The young cast performs full of emotions and sincerity, thus charming the public. The theatre has already visited 60 countries including Brazil, US, China, Thailand, Cuba, and Mexico.

The dancers will perform at the HCM Opera House on October 12. Entrance is by invitation only. — VNS
