THUA THIEN – HUE — At least 22 art troupes from countries such as Australia, India, the UK, Belgium, Brazil, Morocco, South Korea, Mongolia, France, the Philippines, Thailand and China will perform at the 10th Festival Hue.

To be held from April 27 to May 2 in the ancient city of Hue, the festival themed “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development” will feature music, dance and circus performances, street art, installation art, and films.

There will be tickets to events such as the opening and closing ceremonies and performances at the Hue Imperial Citadel and An Dinh Palace, while others like traditional rowing and kite flying will be free of charge.

The biennial festival has become not only a major cultural event in Viet Nam with hundreds of outstanding cultural and tourism programmes but also a convergence point for various cultures from around the world, Huynh Tien Dat, deputy director of the Hue Festival Centre, said.

The highlight of the event this time will be a street festival called Colours in Culture in which 14 local and foreign art troupes will participate.

It would be held every afternoon from April 28 to May 1 on many streets on both the northern and southern sides of the Huong River, Dat said.

Some 1,200 artists took part in the ninth Festival Hue in 2016, which was attended by nearly one million people. — VNS
