Collection of football songs to be published at end of year

HA NOI — Viet Nam Chien Thang (Viet Nam's Victory), colour printing, 20cm by 19cm hard cover – a collection of football songs will be published at the end of this year.

Composer Nguyen Lan Cuong, a member of the Viet Nam Composers Association and chief of the staff of the Ha Noi Music Association, said the book will includes the songs of amateur and professional composers as well as photos of Vietnamese fans at matches.

Writer Ono to lecture on modern Japanese literature in Viet Nam

HA NOI — Masatsugu Ono, a young Japanese writer, will lecture on modern Japanese literature in Viet Nam.

The lectures will take place at the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences in Ha Noi on March 8, at the Phuong Nam Culture Centre in Hue on March 10, and at the University of Social Sciences&Humanities in HCM City on March 12.

Hung Kings nominated for UNESCO recognition

HA NOI — For the Hung Kings Temple Festival, Phu Tho Province will hold an international conference on Hung Kings' beliefs to propose that UNESCO recognise it as a world intangible cultural heritage.

This year the festival will last six days, from April 7 to 12. Besides ceremonial events, other activites will take place, such as chung cake wrapping, the day cake grinding competition, the Xoan Village Singing Festival, the Lai Len Temple inauguration, and a fireworks show at 9pm on April 11.

Xa Tac ceremony to be held at ancient site in Hue on March 20

HUE — The Le Te Xa Tac 2011 (Xa Tac Ceremony) will be held from 6.30-9.30pm on March 20 at the archaeological relic of the Xa Tac Altar Platform, said Phung Phu, director of the Hue Preservation Centre.

Following the success of the Hue Festival in 2008 and 2010, this year, LeTe Xa Tac will continue to honour Vietnamese traditional culture, introducing forms of the Hue imperial ceremmonial music and dances as well as the beautiful performance costumes.

The Xa Tac Altar Site of the Nguyen dynasty was built in 1806 under the reign of King Gia Long. It was the place where the King offered sacrifices to Xa (God of Land) and Tac (God of Rice).

Phnom Penh hotel to host Vietnamese music show

CAMBODIA — The Viet Nam Music Show called NagaWorld by Night will take place on March 24 and 25 at NagaWorld, a five-star hotel and entertainment complex in Phnom Penh.

The show, led by Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen, gathers famous Vienamese artists, such as singer Luu Bich, singer and dancer Nguyen Hung and singer Huynh Anh Tuan among others.

For the occasion, the hotel will offer a US$99 three-day, two-night tour package that includes one ticket to the performance.

Agents in Viet Nam, such as Ben Thanh Tourist, Sai Gon Sunrise Tours, Asia Star Travel, Tour Happy Days, Asian Dragon and Lua Viet Tours are authorised to offer the tour. — VNS
