HA NOI — Viet Nam won the Thanh Nien Newspaper International U21 Football Tournament yesterday in Hue City.
The hosts defeated Myanmar 5-3 in a penalty shootout after the score finished 2-2 result after 90 minutes.
Win Naing Tun and Soe Lwin Lwin scored for the visitors while Tran Duc Nam netted twice to level for Viet Nam, sending the match to penalties.
All five Vietnamese players found the back of the net.
The champions pocketed US$12,000 with Nguyen Thanh Tuan voted best goalkeeper and Dinh Thanh Binh top scorer.
Myanmar took second place and Win Naing Tun was named MVP of the tournament.
