Symphonies mark 100 days to city anniversary

HA NOI —The Viet Nam National Academy of Music (VNAM) will premiere symphonies composed by Ha Noi-based Nguyen Vinh Cat to mark 100 days until the 1,000th anniversary of Ha Noi.

The two new pieces, a violin concerto and an orchestral symphony, were composed to reflect the musician's love for Ha Noi. The concert will take place on July 4 at the Ha Noi Opera House as one of a series of performances and cultural activities on the occasion of the 100 days countdown to the anniversary.

Flame from Hung King to 1,000th Year Ha Noi Capital will headline next Firday at Ly Thai To Garden, according to Pham Quang Long, director of the Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DCST).

"Warm up activities for the 1,000th year on October 10 will be held to remind Hanoians that we are approaching a momentous occasion," Long said.

Many people including foreigners and overseas Vietnamese have said that they wish to present gifts to the city to mark the special occasion, Long added.

An exhibition will be held on October 6-10 to display all the gifts at the Cultural Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao Street.
